Celtic attacker Daizen Maeda was confirmed as the Scottish Football Writers’ Association Player of the Year. The Japanese hitman has been exceptional as Brendan Rodgers’ side sit one game away from a Domestic Treble.
Having already won Celtic’s POTY and Players’ POTY, Maeda collected the PFA Scotland Player of the Year Award at the start of the month, recognising his incredible contribution this season.
The 27-year-old has scored 33 times this season, assisting on 12 occasions in his 49 appearances for the Celts. Maeda will target adding to his goal tally this afternoon as he looks to gear up for next Saturday’s Scottish Cup Final.
Celtic will be keen to reward Daizen’s form with a new deal but you would expect that his form has attracted suitors from England and Europe. The dynamic Maeda has almost superhuman stamina, which is a major contributor to Celtic’s press. Brendan called him ‘the instigator’ earlier in the season and it’s clear that he’s imperative to the way that we play.
