Crystal Palace Ready to Listen to Offers for Marc Guehi

Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish has confirmed the club is prepared to sell captain Marc Guehi in this transfer window to avoid the risk of losing him on a free transfer next summer.

The England defender has just 12 months remaining on his contract at Selhurst Park and remains a player in demand across the Premier League. Liverpool and Newcastle are among the clubs monitoring his situation, while Tottenham have also held an interest.

It is understood that Arne Slot’s Liverpool is Guehi’s preferred destination, although the Merseyside club have so far been reluctant to meet Palace’s £40 million valuation.

“We’d have to do that, of course,” Parish said when asked if they would sell Guehi this summer. “For players of that calibre to leave on a free, it’s a problem for us unfortunately. [Last summer] Joachim [Anderson] went [to Fulham] and we couldn’t afford to lose both. We then had another bid in January but that was a different situation. We’ll just have to see what happens. But, you know, it needs a new contract or a conclusion of some kind.”

Transfer History Highlights Market Value

Interest in Guehi has been consistent over the past 18 months. Newcastle had multiple offers exceeding £50 million rejected last summer. Tottenham were also firmly in the race, with a January bid worth up to £70 million turned down.

Despite those approaches, Palace have so far retained their key defensive figure. However, with the risk of losing him for nothing in 2026, the South London club now appear open to negotiations if a suitable offer is made.

The 24-year-old is open to staying at Selhurst Park and seeing out his contract, which would allow him to sign a pre-contract agreement with overseas clubs in January. Meanwhile, fellow star Eberechi Eze has also attracted serious interest from Arsenal.

“As far as people being here or not being here, it depends,” Parish added. “If it’s the right decision for the football club and for them, nobody can make anyone go, then there’ll be some changes.”

Steve Parish Backs Oliver Glasner but Warns on Spending Limits

Manager Oliver Glasner has voiced concerns about the lack of new arrivals this summer, yet Parish stressed his support for the Austrian coach, who recently led Palace to their second piece of silverware in three months.

“I admire Oliver so much. He just wants to win trophies and football matches,” Parish said. “The Premier League is kind of crazy, the money that people spend and the kind of financial jeopardy that people take. So I have to look at everything around [that].

“We’ll do everything we can in the next few weeks to give ourselves the best chance. But at the end of the day, the amount of money we’ve got isn’t infinite.”

Europa Conference League Appeal Outcome Looming

Palace are also awaiting a decision on their appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport over their demotion from the Europa Conference League. The case was heard in Lausanne on Friday, with a ruling expected on Monday.

“It’ll be good to put it behind us,” Parish said. “I’m determined that we get the right outcome – if we don’t, we’ll have to look at if there’s any steps after that. But after Friday, I don’t understand how we cannot be in the competition.”

With uncertainty over Guehi’s future, interest in other key players and the European ruling pending, the coming weeks could prove defining for Crystal Palace’s season.
