Crystal Palace and Colombia right-back Daniel Munoz wants to move clubs this summer to challenge for major trophies as Manchester City undergo a major squad revamp.

The 29-year-old has emerged as one of the best full-backs in the Premier League and as Manchester City conduct their search for a new right-back after Kyle Walker’s transfer to Burnley, Munoz has thrown himself on the transfer market.

With three years remaining on the defender’s current deal at Selhurst Park, Munoz is seeking a top six move in the Premier League and many sides at the top end of the table could look towards the Crystal Palace man as the transfer window progress.

Manchester City have had a busy summer already following the arrival(s) of Marcus Bettinelli, Rayan Ait-Nouri, Tijjani Reijnders and Rayan Cherki. Kevin De Bruyne and Scott Carson have left the club at the end of their respective contracts.

Hugo Viana has been assigned the huge task of reshaping Pep Guardiola’s squad after a sub-standard 2024-25 campaign that saw Manchester City record their lowest Premier League points tally since Manuel Pellegrini, crash out of the UEFA Champions League at the Round of 16 stage and lose the FA Cup final to Crystal Palace.

Guardiola’s side looked like they have turned a corner with their impressive start to the FIFA Club World Cup in June, though the Blues fell prey to their habits from last season as defensive and goalkeeping frailties meant that City crashed out at the Round of 16 stage against Al-Hilal to return home in disappointed fashion.

Reijnders, Ait-Nouri and Cherki have quickly settled into life in a Manchester City shirt as Viana and co now look to streamline Guardiola’s bloated first-team squad and sanction first-team exits before the transfer window shuts on September 1.

However, right-back remains an area Manchester City are looking to strengthen in this summer as club officials ponder over a deal for Newcastle and England defender Valentino Livramento, who will prove to be an expensive purchase – which has so far put off the Blues.

In an interview with Win Sports TV, Crystal Palace and Colombia right-back Daniel Munoz has left the door wide open for a move to a top six Premier League club this summer as he looks to progress his career after an encouraging one-and-a-half year spell at Selhurst Park.

“I want to play for the best teams in the world, but they haven’t spoken to me directly,” said Munoz, who has previously been linked with a sensational move to the Etihad Stadium, as quoted by Mirror Sport.

“I dream and work every day to achieve it, and I hope it can happen as soon as possible. I hope it’s in this window, but if not, I’m very happy at Crystal Palace.”

It remains to be seen how Manchester City’s pursuit of a new right-back shapes up in the remainder of the transfer window, with the Blues expected to have planned for alternatives if they are to move on from Livramento.
