Crystal Palace are exploring a deal to sign RB Leipzig midfielder Christoph Baumgartner, according to journalist Florian Plettenberg.

Palace recently sold Eberechi Eze to Arsenal. His departure has increased their need for more creativity.

Several players have been linked with the Eagles, including Atletico Madrid’s Conor Gallagher and Leicester City’s Bilal El-Khannouss.

Baumgartner is another possible target. His qualities and versatility make him an attractive option.

Spanish club Villarreal are also interested in securing his services this summer.

An official bid has not yet been made. However, a departure from Leipzig cannot be ruled out if suitable offers arrive and the player is open to a move.

Baumgartner registered five goals and two assists in all competitions last season. His contributions highlight his effectiveness in the final third.

The 26-year-old is an intelligent and creative player who thrives in attacking areas. He is comfortable operating between the lines and enjoys driving forward with the ball.

He can shoot from distance, link play in tight spaces, and make decisive runs into the box. His skill set offers multiple attacking solutions.

Baumgartner is also willing to work without the ball. He presses with energy, engages in physical duels and adds balance to the midfield.

His technical ability, combined with his work rate and vision, makes him a modern number ten. He is also capable of playing out wide or up front.

He would be a useful option for Palace if they can complete a deal before the transfer window closes.
