Manchester City players have received words of advice from football legend Cristiano Ronaldo amid a run of uncertain form across competitions.
Pep Guardiola and his players have endured a hugely uncertain period of form over the last two-and-a-half months and across competitions, recording three wins in their last 15 games and dropping significantly in the various league tables.
In the Premier League, the common belief from within the club is that a fifth consecutive English top-flight title win is now entirely out of the question, with a 12-point gap separating themselves and 1st-placed Liverpool, who also have a game in hand on City.
As for the Champions League, City find themselves at serious risk of not qualifying for the last-16 stage, and know that they must get points on the board against Paris Saint-Germain and Club Brugge to improve their chances of a play-off place for the knock-outs.
It is the unknown for Manchester City and Pep Guardiola that has been the most stressful over the recent weeks, as the side faces a period in their modern day history that they have not experienced under their legendary Catalan coach.
Speaking recently at the Globe Soccer Awards, football legend Cristiano Ronaldo advised Manchester City’s players ‘not to talk now’ as they look to find their outstanding form and performances of recent seasons to revive their ongoing campaign.
“Teams always have their good and bad moments,” the 39-year-old insisted. “Now Manchester City have gone through a bad moment. But they will come back.”
The Al-Nassr frontman continued, as relayed by The Mirror, “I would tell (Manchester) City to their players that they have to show more and not talk now. The great players know where the problem is.”
Manchester City’s back-to-back victories for the first time since late October will no doubt give themselves some hope of a turnaround in the months that remain this season, having secured wins against Leicester City and West Ham United in the Premier League.
Goals are starting to flow more often for the first-team squad too, with six strikes to their name in those two matches including vastly improved productivity for Savinho and Erling Haaland recording three of those efforts himself.
Next up for Manchester City is the arrival of a new competition to this season’s schedule in a fresh opportunity to claim silverware in a difficult campaign, as League Two side Salford City visit the Etihad Stadium in the third round of the FA Cup.
