Cristiano Ronaldo is set to leave Al-Nassr, with his contract expiring next month, and the Portuguese star is keen to continue playing.

Ronaldo has been playing for the Saudi club since January of 2023, and after scoring his 800th club goal against Al-Fateh, it seems the time is right for a new challenge.

Ronaldo posted on his X account: “This chapter is over. The story? Still being written. Grateful to all.”

The cryptic message has sparked debate about where the 40-year-old could end up, and FIFA’s president Gianni Infantino has weighed in on the matter: “Ronaldo might play for one of the teams as well at the Club World Cup,” Infantino told the streamer ‘IShowSpeed’.

“There are discussions with some clubs, so if any club is watching and is interested in hiring Ronaldo for the Club World Cup… who knows, who knows?”

There is a temporary transfer window between the 1st-10th June, specifically for the Club World Cup, and there have been several strong rumours linking Ronaldo to multiple different clubs playing in the competition.

The Club World Cup, taking place in America, starts on the 15th June, and is FIFA’s flagship event this year.

A lot of prestigious clubs are taking part, including Barcelona, Real Madrid, Chelsea, Manchester City, Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid and PSG.

FIFA have also drafted in Inter Miami, so that Lionel Messi will be on display in the huge event, and if Ronaldo is also brought in, it would be an added draw for an event that has been largely based on the pull of seeing the best players in the world on display.

Despite the calibre of teams and players, tickets have been hard to ship for the competition, and there are still plenty of seats left for the opening game between Inter Miami and Al-Ahly.
