A manager who is currently doing well at the top end of League One is a strong contender for the top job at Coventry.
Coventry City are eyeing a move for Wycombe Wanderers boss Matt Bloomfield following the departure of Mark Robins.
This is according to The Guardian, who have reported that the Chairboys' head coach is one of the "leading contenders" for the job at the Coventry Building Society Arena.
Robins' dismissal was only announced this morning, but it seems as though owner Doug King and the rest of the board already have a key name in mind for the top job in the Midlands.
The Sky Blues currently sit in 17th place following an underwhelming start to the 2024/25 campaign, with their loss against Derby County on Wednesday night halting their momentum after picking up some positive results recently.
They looked to have got themselves back on track with recent wins against Luton Town and Middlesbrough, with Coventry securing a 3-0 away win at the Riverside following Hayden Hackney's dismissal.
This looked to have been a confidence booster for them, but they were unable to make the most of this result on Teesside, with Jerry Yates' strike and an own goal from Bobby Thomas making it an uphill battle for the Sky Blues to get anything from their game against Derby.
Tatsuhiro Sakamoto halved the deficit in the 77th minute, but they couldn't find an equaliser in the end and this was a real setback for a side who would have been expecting to take all three points from this game.
With the team underperforming this season, it may not come as a surprise to some that Robins has been relieved of his duties at the CBS Arena, but he has been a success for much of his time at the time and his sacking has been met with huge criticism.
Coventry supporters and many football fans in general are baffled by this decision. Not only does the board need to deal with this criticism, but they will also need to find a replacement for their former manager.

It has been reported by The Guardian that Coventry are interested in a potential approach for Bloomfield.
Believed to be a "leading contender" to take charge of the Sky Blues, Wycombe fans will be keeping tabs on this situation and praying that he doesn't make the switch to the Championship.
The Chairboys have enjoyed a magnificent start to the 2024/25 campaign, currently sitting top of League One after winning nine and drawing two of their 13 league games.
This is a brilliant achievement considering the calibre of some of the other teams in the division - and they will be hoping to build on this very promising start.
Whether Bloomfield will remain at the club is currently unclear though.
Robins was such a big success at Coventry and deserved the chance to take the team forward for the foreseeable future, even after a slow start to the season.
With the fans wanting him to stay, Bloomfield would have a tough job on his hands if he were to make the move, and he would also have very big shoes to fill.
Staying at Adams Park may be the best option for him right now, considering Robins' successor may not get a lot of time to put his stamp on the squad before there's criticism.
Wycombe are also doing very well at the moment - and it would be a further boost for the Chairboys if he stayed.
But Bloomfield would have the chance to work with some very talented players including Ellis Simms and Haji Wright if he made the move, so it will be interesting to see whether he stays or goes if he's offered the job.
