This comes owing to the return of no.1 Thibaut Courtois.

Belgian international Courtois was of course this week on the bench in a competitive setting for Real Madrid for the first time all season.

As much comes after the former Chelsea man’s training ground ACL tear back in August was followed by a setback in March.

Courtois, however, has recovered from the latter ailment far soon than expected.

And this has thrown the pecking order between the posts in Spain’s capital somewhat up in the air with a view to the final weeks of the campaign.

Courtois, for his part, is in line to feature from the off this weekend, when Real welcome Cádiz to the Santiago Bernabéu for a La Liga clash.

And this could prove to be just the first in a string of appearances for the 31-year-old over the weeks ahead.

As per the aforementioned Relevo, Courtois’ form in training at Valdebebas of late has proven nothing short of ‘magnificent’.

So much so that the Belgian is considered more than ready to challenge Andriy Lunin for the starting gloves once more.

Backup Lunin has of course done a wonderful job in Courtois’ place, across the latter’s lengthy spell on the sidelines this season.

But Carlo Ancelotti and the Blanco coaching staff are fully aware that the Ukrainian is simply ‘not Courtois’.

Lunin does not inspire the same level of confidence in those in front of him whilst on the pitch, with his command of the penalty area and distribution remaining some way off those of a fully-firing Courtois.

As a result, it is confirmed that ‘Courtois is anything but ruled out for the big events of the season’s run-in’, specifically a potential Champions League final fixture…
