There have been conflicting reports in the media over the past few days about Sandro Tonali, and it seems he is now a concrete target for Juventus.
La Gazzetta dello Sport suggested recently that Tonali is not happy with being a back-up at Newcastle and is already thinking about coming back to Serie A, with Milan naturally mentioned as a potential destination.
Magpies’ boss Eddie Howe replied to the reports in a press conference this week and laughed them off, while Matteo Moretto of Relevo then confirmed that the player is not looking for a way out of England.
According to Corriere dello Sport, there has been a ‘sudden and radical turning point’ in Juventus’ project. The fear of missing out on a Champions League spot – the club’s main objective for the season – has accelerated a ‘necessary corrective manoeuvre’.
Juve want Tonali to bolster their midfield but Newcastle United would ask for €55m. In order to raise those funds, they plan to sell Nicolò Fagioli and the 19-year-old jewel Kenan Yildiz for around €35-40m.

With that and the signing of Tonali they would satisfy Thiago Motta’s request of adding a dynamic midfielder who has aggression and intensity too. It would also allow the coach to use Teun Koopmeiners in a three-man midfield, like with Atalanta.
In recent weeks there was also talk of Milan’s interest, the paper adds. However, the most concrete path seems to be the one leading to their rivals Juve, even if the transfer market is often full of surprises.
