It is Christmas time and AC Milan are showing their charitable side, as they normally do at this time of year. Today, a story has emerged about Mike Maignan and a signed shirt.
In the past week, we have seen members of the Milan staff, first team and women’s team head to hospitals in Milano to sign memorabilia and take photographs with patients – heartwarming at this time of year and a sign of the club’s focus on engaging with the local supporter base and community.
As Corriere della Sera reports (via Milan Press), this is not the only charitable activity happening at the club in the past week.
It involves Maignan and a seven year old Rossoneri fan, Nicolo, who had an operation and lost his Milan shirt, gifted to him by his grandad, who passed away last Christmas. Although his parents tried to replace the shirt, it was not the same.
However, the story gets a positive twist.
After hearing about the news, a nurse at the Niguarda Hospital found the shirt, and gifted it back to the young fan. Then, the story reached Maignan – who is Nicolo’s favourite player – and the Frenchman invited the youngster to the game against Genoa.
Following the game, Nicolo was surprised with a trip to the mixed zone, where he met his idol, and he signed the child’s shirt. A heartwarming story and a showing of Maignan’s leadership qualities.
