With the season coming to an end, AC Milan are in desperate need of a new sporting director, while the manager pursuit must also be narrowed down in the next few weeks.
Sergio Conceicao failed to salvage his Milan adventure in the Coppa Italia, as reported by Corriere della Sera this morning (via MilanNews). Indeed, if he had won the trophy, then he most likely would have been confirmed as the head coach for next season.
So, who will take his place now? Max Allegri and Maurizio Sarri are two concrete leads for their respective track record, but Vincenzo Italiano is also a strong candidate. Before the head coach, however, one would have to imagine that a sporting director will be hired.
One must be found quickly, as the newspaper continues, and an inquiry was even made with Cristiano Giuntoli in the last few hours. However, the Juventus director has four years left of his contract and with a salary of €2m per year.
A new, desperate, attempt with Atalanta and the Percassi family to obtain the green light for Tony D’Amico cannot be ruled out either. In short, Milan are no closer to an answer than a few months ago and it could have serious effects on the upcoming season.
