Manchester City have their sights set on top spot in their UEFA Champions League group this week, with victory against RB Leipzig meaning they could finish first.

Pep Guardiola’s players booked their place in the last-16 of the competition courtesy of a 3-0 victory in their last outing in Europe, as an Erling Haaland brace and Phil Foden strike dismissed of BSC Young Boys at the Etihad Stadium.

The Premier League champions come into Tuesday night’s contest off the back of successive draws however, following a dramatic 4-4 visit to Stamford Bridge prior to the recent international break and a 1-1 stalemate against Liverpool on Saturday afternoon.

As City look to return to winning ways, Pep Guardiola and his coaching staff have also been boosted by the return of a trio of players to first-team training, after Jack Grealish came back from an illness and John Stones and Mateo Kovacic returned to action following injury.

Kevin De Bruyne and Matheus Nunes remain sidelined, with the Belgian continuing to recover from a long-term hamstring problem and recently admitting that he could return to on-field action shortly after the turn of the year.

The visit of RB Leipzig to the Etihad Stadium comes during a challenging fixture schedule for Manchester City, who take on the Bundesliga sides after the visit of Jurgen Klopp and ahead of a mammoth English top-flight clash against Tottenham next Sunday.
