Confirmed: Barcelona star handed new squad number | OneFootball

A member of the defensive ranks at La Liga champions Barcelona has this week officially been confirmed as having taken on a new squad number.

The player in question? Gerard Martín.

Stopper Martín has for his part endured an altogether difficult start to the new campaign in Spain’s top-flight.

This comes with the ongoing financial problems behind the scenes in Catalunya’s capital having culminated in the 23-year-old missing both of Barcelona’s first two fixtures whilst unregistered.

Late this week, however, Martín’s situation has taken a turn for the better.

As confirmed on La Liga’s official website, the Spanish youth international has now been registered to take to the pitch in league play this season.

Not only that, but Martín has been handed a new jersey number, in recognition of his increasingly prominent role in Hansi Flick’s squad.

Moving forward, the left-back will take to the pitch in Blaugrana colours donning the number 18:
