La Liga giants Barcelona have rejected a first offer for an out-of-favour member of the club’s attacking ranks.
That’s according to Marca, who point towards Ansu Fati as the player in question.
Wide-man Ansu is of course widely expected to bring a close to his Barcelona stint over the weeks ahead.
After the 22-year-old again struggled for game-time in Catalunya’s capital this past season, Deco and the Camp Nou brass opened negotiations with their counterparts at AS Monaco, over a summer deal for the 2025/26 campaign.
Initial reports suggested that an agreement would not be long in being struck between the parties.
As confirmed late on Thursday, however, negotiations are not progressing as originally hoped.
In fact, as per a report from Marca:
‘Monaco don’t want to buy him. Their proposal is a loan, but without paying Ansu’s full salary, which is already very high after his last contract extension.’
Barcelona have since rejected this proposal out of hand, not at all impressed with Monaco’s offering.
Talks will continue over the days and weeks ahead, but it remains to be seen if common ground can ultimately be found.
