Como director Carlalberto Ludi offered a major update on the future of Inter Milan target Nico Paz amid Real Madrid speculation.
Speaking to Corriere dello Sport via FCInterNews, Ludi confirmed Como’s ambition to keep hold of the 20-year-old prodigy.
Nico Paz joined the Serie A newcomers last summer after failing to secure senior football at Real Madrid.
Indeed, Como paid only €6 million to seal the deal.
Little did they know the impact the young gun would have in his maiden season in Italy.
Paz has quickly established himself as a fan favorite, spearheading Cesc Fabregas’ effort to keep Como in the top flight.
However, there’s a catch.
Real Madrid can bring the Argentine forward back to Estadio Santiago Bernabeu thanks to a buyback clause.
Indeed, they’d only need to dash out €8m to trigger it – a figure almost irrelevant to their financial strength.
Furthermore, Paz’s rise to stardom at Como has only incentivized Los Blancos to exercise this option.
Meanwhile, the Italian minnows have other plans.
Asked point blank whether Como would try to retain Paz, Ludi replied: “We would be crazy not to try until the very end.
“We’ve already expressed our desire publicly. We know he loves working with Cesc.

“He is very comfortable in the environment, the club has opened its doors to him, and he’s central to our technical development.
“We understand the interest from other clubs, but my focus is solely on what we can do to keep him.
“I recently referred to him as a project for a great champion, and he still has room for improvement.
“He can become a top player – how many years or months it will take, I don’t know, but he’s a fantastic worker.”
