The young Senegalese winger rejoins the squad after three months out with injury.

Assane Diao rejoined Como 1907's full team training on Tuesday, July 15, as part of the club’s pre-season preparations in Mozzate. Sidelined since April with a muscle injury, he is finally back with his teammates after a long rehabilitation process.
The Italian club shared the update, announcing that Senegal international Assane Diao "has successfully completed his rehabilitation program and resumed regular training with the squad" after undergoing osteosynthesis surgery on his right fifth metatarsal. This procedure became necessary following the injury he picked up during a training session in April—an incident that forced him to miss the end of Como’s Serie A campaign.
At the time, the Lombardy club confirmed that Diao would be sidelined until the end of the 2024-2025 season. The injury dealt a serious blow to the Senegalese star’s remarkable momentum, as he had made a stunning Serie A debut with his new team after signing from Real Betis in January (15 matches, 8 goals).
Assane Diao and his Como 1907 teammates are continuing their summer preparations, with a first pre-season friendly set for Friday, July 18, against Lille. The match could offer a first glimpse of the 19-year-old’s current form.
