Cole Palmer just keeps getting better and better. The Englishman is now the first player to score four goals before half-time in a single Premier League match. It takes his tally to 31 goals in 53 games across all competitions for Chelsea.
And not only that, he completed a hat-trick in just nine minutes and 48 seconds. Equalising for Chelsea after Brighton took the lead through Georginio Rutter, Palmer then but the Blues ahead from the penalty spot after 28 minutes before adding a third with a sublime free-kick.
Brighton’s Carlos Baleba then brought Fabian Hürzeler’s side to within one goal, but that was before Palmer struck again, scoring his fourth of the afternoon at Stamford Bridge, with Jadon Sancho providing the assist.
But the England international could have finished the half with five goals, after seeing one ruled out for offside, while he also hit the post in the opening stages.
