Cody Gakpo has admitted he is keen to continue working alongside Mohamed Salah at Liverpool, urging the Egyptian to sign a contract extension.
Salah is approaching the final six months of his current deal and will be free to discuss a contract with overseas clubs in just a matter of days, with a number of the world's richest sides all said to be plotting offers.
Liverpool hope to keep Salah but are yet to strike an agreement over fresh terms. The 32-year-old recently confirmed there was no update to provide on his future after the 6-3 win over Tottenham Hotspur.
That game saw Salah climb up to fourth on Liverpool's all-time scoring charts, and Gakpo admitted he hopes to see Salah racking up the goals at Anfield for years to come.
"It's very special what we are all witnessing," he told club media. "The amount of goals he scores but the assists he gives as well, the way he plays the game, how he puts other attacking players or midfielders like myself in a position to score and to be dangerous is from a high level.
"I hope for us and for him that he can continue doing that for a long time. We are very lucky to have him and proud that we can be his teammate and try to make him better. And he is trying to make us better as well."
January could be a nervous period for Liverpool, with Salah free to discuss a departure alongside centre-back Virgil van Dijk and right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold.
Like Salah, Van Dijk recently confirmed he had no updates to offer, but refused to put a deadline on his negotiations.
