Theo Hernandez is expected to start against Torino this evening, and he will have the chance to right the wrongs from midweek when he let the team down.

As Calciomercato.com write, the red card that he got during the Champions League exit to Feyenoord really seemed to mark the end of the idyllic relationship between Theo and Milan, to the extent there were multiple reports of a certain summer exit.

This was also in part due to the renewal issue given his contract expires in June 2026. After reaching an agreement in principle over the figures and duration of an extension, things then went quiet and at present nothing seems imminent.

The expectation was that he would be benched for the Torino game as a punishment for being sent off, but ‘then something changed’. Sergio Conceicao, in symbiosis with RedBird senior advisor Zlatan Ibrahimovic and the rest of the management, put up a wall to defend him.

“I don’t like talking about the colour of his hair: for me black, white or yellow it’s the same, as long as they are professionals and give their all. I spoke about him at the end of the match. He is an asset to the club, he has given the fans so much joy in other moments.

“He knows he did something that put the team in difficulty, we have already spoken about it in the locker room. I have also made many mistakes. He is a player available to play tomorrow like the other 22.”

Milan are going for fourth place in the league and to overcome the deficit they need everyone pulling in the same direction, including Theo. The former Real Madrid man will be among the starters, also because Kyle Walker is out so Alex Jimenez will play on the right.

Theo was still fined for his red card, but that puts an end to things as far as the club are concerned. A public apology came via social media and he said sorry to his team-mates too, so now it is time to look forward.
