It seems that everything is done regarding Mike Maignan’s AC Milan renewal, but a late change is possible, with the Rossoneri considering another option.
The summer mercato is never an easy period, especially for Milan, and it seems that the club are considering a different route, which could heavily backfire if not conducted perfectly.
As Calciomercato.com write, the Rossoneri are ready to sign a deal with Maignan, with only the final signatures left to be confirmed before the renewal is finalised. However, it seems the parties prefer to ‘take a break’, rather than confirm things now.
The main factor behind this decision appears to be Lucas Chevalier, who is six years younger than Maignan, and also plays for Lille, like the current starter used to. With his deal expiring in 2027, there are certainly no guarantees.
Should a move for Chevalier not be be feasible, it is likely that the Diavolo would then consider Marco Carnesecchi from Atalanta – though where this would rank in the situation is unknown.
If, and it is a big if at that, the club decide on moving towards someone new, then Maignan would depart this season given his own contract expires in 2026, and with no renewal, the clock is ticking already to finalise a decision.
