A game of truth awaits for both AC Milan and Napoli tonight at San Siro, and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia will look to finally get the better of a familiar opponent.
As Calciomercato.com write, Kvaratskhelia was someone that the new Napoli head coach Antonio Conte strongly wanted to keep in the summer, seeing him as an ideal winger in the 4-3-3 system he has been using.
He has four goals and two assists in the first nine games of the season in the league, which is far from a bad return. However, he wants to make the difference against Milan, especially because up until now he has struggled against the Rossoneri.
In six games over two years across the league and the Champions League the Georgian has never scored or had an assist. The Scudetto season in particular stands out, when the Georgian won the award for best player in Serie A but was pocketed by Davide Calabria.
On the other side is Rafael Leao, the MVP of the previous season when Milan won the league. The Portuguese is not experiencing an idyllic moment and is expected to start the game on the bench, with just one goal and three assists to his name in 2024-25.
The comparisons deepen further when considering that Leao seems to light up against Napoli. His brace in the 4-0 at the Maradona and his assists in the two Champions League quarter-final legs show what he can do, but he will have to do it off the bench tonight.
