Paulo Fonseca made himself clear on Wednesday, that his AC Milan team will no longer have passengers, and Sunday’s match will be the first showing of this.
By all accounts, the fixture against Genoa should be a celebration of Milan, a showing of Rossoneri spirit and everything good attached to the club, so you could argue there is no greater punishment than being benched for this game.
Players like Theo Hernandez, who have been so big for the club in recent times, would and should be a poster boy for the occasion, but we are heading towards a different idea.
Instead, Theo should be among the substitutes, just as Fikayo Tomori should be due to their attitude problems, as reported by Calciomercato.com. Perhaps, the duo will also be joined by Davide Calabria, who made a stand against Fonseca in midweek.
Should this happen, the back four should be made up of Emerson Royal, Matteo Gabbia, Malick Thiaw and Filippo Terraciano. In front of them, there will be no changes, Tijjani Reijnders and Youssouf Fofana, however, they will be joined by Yunus Musah to form a midfield three – Musah and Reijnders could switch periodically to provide support as a No.10, though.
The triad of Samuel Chukwueze, Rafael Leao and Tammy Abraham should lead the line.
