Achraf Hakimi
Starting this Sunday evening against Inter Miami in the Club World Cup round of 16, Achraf Hakimi once again dazzled—and the French press is abuzz.
For the 11th time this season and the second in the Club World Cup, Achraf Hakimi found the back of the net. PSG cruised to a comfortable 4-0 victory over Lionel Messi’s teammates and will now compete in the quarter-finals of the tournament. Here’s a look at the ratings and comments Achraf Hakimi received from the French press.
Foot Mercato (8): “So valuable this season, Hakimi once again impressed on Sunday. With little defensive threat from a lackluster Floridian attack, he had every opportunity to showcase his technical and physical prowess going forward. A real nightmare for a struggling Jordi Alba, the Moroccan got his goal just before halftime (45+3’). A complete performance from one of PSG’s most consistent players this season.”
L’Équipe (7): “Another outstanding match from the Moroccan full-back, especially going forward, despite an early misplaced pass in the 2nd minute. He forced a defender to clear his shot on target (21’). Scored in stoppage time of the second half after yet another forward run. Was close to scoring again (65’). Seldom tested defensively—one good attacking recovery (31’)—and was replaced by Lee (70’) to a round of applause.”
Le Parisien (7): “A minor scare to start (2’) before the machine kicked into gear. The Moroccan showed great chemistry with Barcola down the right flank and looked lively throughout. His performance was capped off by a goal scored at the second attempt (45+3’).”
