Roma manager Claudio Ranieri spoke to Sky Sport on the eve of the Europa League fixture with Spurs.
“Coming back to play in England is always something special,” said the veteran technician who won the Premier League title with Leicester City.
“We are facing a very good team: in the last 15 games in Europe they have won 13 times and drawn twice.”
“We know what awaits us but we will play our game without fear and we hope to improve on what we did in Naples.”
“I haven’t been working on tactics as much as I have been working on the team’s mental side.”
“We know that when a team finds itself in these conditions, you have to recharge and bring out the child that is inside them,” he continued.
“They are boys and they are going through a difficult period, which happens to every man,” he added.
“I always say that football is a small part of a man’s life. There will be difficult moments when they are adults and they learn to fall and get up again, this is the time to get up again.”
“Everyone knows that I am a Roma fan, I always have been. I said I would stop but only two teams could let me return to the pitch and one was Roma. They called me and I accepted.”
“I must not be afraid, I have a heavy commitment but I believe that my entire career has been one of difficult commitments. We must work and not give up until the last second, this is what I ask of my players.”
“We have to wake up, we have to give everything and the lads have to leave the pitch having done their job. Then you can play well or badly, you can’t always play well but the performance depends on your belief, your character, your heart and everything you have inside.”
“At this moment the lads have to do their job, it depends on us, it depends on the man that is in each one of them. You can miss a goal, you can do well or do badly.”
“I asked the lads to first do their job and then we’ll accept the result.”
“Tottenham scored four goals against Manchester City and other teams. We come here with the knowledge that we’re facing a great team on their pitch but we’re ready.”
