Chelsea star Christopher Nkunku appears increasingly interested in closing a move to Manchester United this January.

With Alejandro Garnacho seemingly open to departing the club, Man United have reportedly identified Nkunku as a potential replacement. In fact, Chelsea have been named as an interested party in Garnacho, meaning that a swap deal could be on the table.

Just one day later, The Peoples Person noted that United appeared willing to bring in the French star on a loan deal.

Now, it appears as if the player himself is willing to put in the effort on his side to make a deal happen.

“Chelsea forward Christopher Nkunku is understood to be keen on a potential transfer to Manchester United after another move collapsed,” CaughtOffside reported this morning.

“Sources with a close understanding of the situation have informed CaughtOffside that Nkunku had more or less agreed terms with Bayern Munich, but an agreement could not be struck with Chelsea.”

“The Blues have set an asking price of around €70 million for Nkunku, though they could also be open to an initial loan move with an obligation to buy clause.”

United’s pursuit of Nkunku could be influenced heavily by Garnacho’s next move.

Napoli have been heavily linked with the Argentine winger, with Garnacho himself reportedly looking to advance the deal.

Still, the two clubs have disagreed on price, with United promptly rejecting the Serie A club’s €50 million bid for Garnacho. According to the report, United are valuing Garnacho at around €65 million, a reduction from their previous €75 million valuation.

This difference in opinion prompted the Napoli sporting director to lash out at United, warning that they would not capitulate to the club’s transfer demands.

With the transfer window closing in a matter of days, time is of the essence for United as they seek to determine who their wingers will be for the remainder of the season. With Marcus Rashford frozen out of manager Ruben Amorim’s squad and Antony away on loan at Real Betis, United’s options have become increasingly fewer, meaning that a deal for Nkunku could prove vital regardless of whether Garnacho decides to stay at Old Trafford.
