Chris Wood continued his stunning run with Nottingham Forest scoring twice in the 3 - 1 win over Brentford in the PL’s opening round.
The New Zealand striker’s brace has put him level with Mohamed Salah on remarkable scoring record.
Since Nuno Espirito Santo took charge in Dec 2023, Wood's netted 30 league goals without single penalty. His consistency in front of goal's made him one of the most reliable strikers in England’s top flight.
Including penalties, Wood now has 33 league goal under Nuno. That tally leaves him only four behind the Premier League’s top trio: Erling Haaland, Salah and Alexander Isak.
The Newcastle striker linked with Liverpool move is also part of this elite group.
Salah, meanwhile opened his 2025 /26 campaign with goal in Liverpool’s 4 - 2 victory over Bournemouth. The Egyptian star remains among the most prolific forwards but Wood’s numbers highlight the growing competition.
