On this occasion, and with a view to the continental tournament, Raúl Rangel, Gilberto Chiquete, Fernando Beltrán, and Roberto Alvarado will be called up by Jaime Lozano to form the squad for the friendly matches before the competition, where they will seek to remain on the final list of 23 national players.

The national team will play 3 preparation matches against Bolivia (May 31), Uruguay (June 6) and Brazil (June 8). Mexico is in Group B of the Conmebol tournament, where it is seeded and will face Ecuador, Venezuela, and Jamaica in different venues in the United States. El Tri's participation in the competition will begin on June 22 against the Caribbean team.
