According to L’Équipe, Chelsea midfielder Lesley Ugochukwu (19) is set to be out for 6 weeks with a hamstring injury.  The former Rennes midfielder suffered from a hamstring strain in the Blues’ 2-1 defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Christmas Eve.

Chelsea completed the signing of the 19-year-old from Rennes in the summer of 2023. Ugochukwu cost the Premier League club for a fee of €27m in August. The French midfielder has made more appearances than most expected since signing for Pochettino’s team. Ugochukwu has made 13 appearances in a Chelsea shirt so far this season.

A loan to Strasbourg?

After the France U21 international was signed by Chelsea, Ugochukwu was linked with a potential loan move to the Blues’ sister club Strasbourg. The midfielder quashed any rumours of this happening in an interview after the transfer window had shut. However, with limited minutes concerning his Les Espoirs manager Thierry Henry, a loan to back to Ligue 1 may not be the worst idea.
