Scottish giants Celtic and five-time Premier League champions Chelsea will clash on Saturday at 9pm (UK time) as the sides continue their pre-season schedules at the Notre Dame Stadium in Indiana.

Celtic will go into this game in high spirits following a 4-3 win over reigning Premier League champions Manchester City on Wednesday morning.

Chelsea, meanwhile, will be looking to get their first pre-season victory under Enzo Maresca after drawing 2-2 with League One side Wrexham in the opening match of their preparations.

Chelsea vs Celtic team news

Cole Palmer, Conor Gallagher and Marc Cucurella are all yet to join up with the squad after featuring in the Euro 2024 final, while Enzo Fernandez is also yet to link up after winning the Copa America with Argentina.

Moises Caicedo has reunited with his teammates, however, and could feature after missing the Wrexham game. New signing Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall is also in contention after also missing that match with a slight knock.

Djordje Petrovic and Omari Kellyman are injured and Trevoh Chalobah, Kepa Arrizabalaga, Romelu Lukaku, Cesare Casadei and David Datro Fofana are all absent from the squad, with most of the latter quintet likely to leave this summer.

With the Scottish Premiership season starting next weekend, it was no surprise to see Brendan Rodgers name a strong side against Manc City and he should put out a similar team against Chelsea.

Kasper Schmeichel played the first half against Man City and should start again as he is set to be the Bhoys’ number one this term. Nicolas-Gerrit Kuhn netted twice in the win and should continue on the right wing as he looks set for a big season with Celtic.

Daizen Maeda missed Celtic’s previous friendly against DC United but returned against Man City, meaning Cameron Carter-Vickers and Alistair Johnson should be the only absentees as both have been given extra time off after their Copa America exploits.

Chelsea vs Celtic predicted lineups

Chelsea (4-3-3): Sanchez; James, Adarabioyo, Badiashile, Chilwell; Caicedo, Lavia, Chukwuemeka; Madueke, Nkunku, Sterling.

Celtic (4-3-3): Schmeichel; Ralston, Welsh, Scales, Taylor; O’Riley, McGregor, Hatate; Kuhn, Furuhashi, Maeda.

This pre-season friendly between Chelsea and Celtic will be broadcast live on Celtic TV and the Chelsea website, live on Saturday at 9pm.

Maresca must strike balance for Chelsea

The Blues are still finding their feet under their new boss and it looks like there is still business to be done at Stamford Bridge. Trevoh Chalobah was left in England ahead of this American tour as he has been told to find a new club, while reports of links to players such as Filip Jorgensen and Nico Williams are still rife.

It will be another season of change for Chelsea and Maresca must strike the balance in a bloated squad as soon as possible if he is to build on the sixth-place finish the Blues achieved in the Premier League last term.

Celtic, meanwhile, will be keen to continue their strong pre-season by upsetting Chelsea as they aim to continue building momentum ahead of an attempt to make it four Scottish titles in a row.
