FC Barcelona have a plethora of talented players at their disposal, both in the first team and the subsidiary. However, it is common to see the most prominent youth players eventually find their way to the first team. For some Barcelona players, however, the journey is longer than it is for certain others.
In the case of 21-year-old Spanish midfielder Marc Casado, the journey was definitely on the longer side of things. Ultimately, however, he earned his way towards the Barcelona first team and made himself a reliable component of Hansi Flick’s team and set-up.
Even as Frenkie de Jong continues to improve and challenge for his starting position, Casado remains committed to succeeding at the club. However, his impressive performances this season have been appreciated by clubs beyond just Barcelona as well it seems.
As highlighted by Mundo Deportivo, Premier League side Chelsea have also been quite interested in the young Spaniard. According to the report, the London-based club even tried to sign the player during the recent winter transfer window.
However, the player’s commitment to Barcelona remains absolute and he has no intention of leaving the club at any point right now. While he understands that the competition is tough, especially with De Jong’s resurgence, he remains confident in his abilities to fight for a starting spot.
Across this ongoing season, the Barcelona midfielder has played in 30 official matches for Hansi Flick. With 2178 minutes played, he has provided six assists this season and has also been a constant aid in terms of connecting the team’s while also acting as a backbone in the team’s structure as well.
Even aside from Chelsea, MD is reporting that other Premier League sides are interested in his signing as well. For now, he continues to have a €100 million release clause following the contract extension he signed that will see him stay with La Blaugrana until 2028.
