Chelsea are set to offer Ipswich Town loanee Omari Hutchinson a new deal as the Tractor Boys appear keen to bring the winger back on loan next season.

TEAMtalk have said that the London club want to offer an extension to the 20-year-old, whose current deal at Stamford Bridge is set to expire next season.

The former Arsenal academy product has been electric for Ipswich this season, and the East Anglian club are said to want him to be with the club again next season, which should be in the Premier League, if they handle their business on Saturday.

A deal of this nature would allow Chelsea to hold onto their young talent, long-term, whilst allowing him to continue his development at a good level with a club he already knows.

Omari Hutchinson's contribution to Ipswich's promotion push

The Jamaican hasn't been on fire for the Tractor Boys throughout the whole campaign, but, in the crunch moments of the season, he has often provided.

The majority of his nine goals and five assists so far in the 23/24 campaign have come within the last few months; the exact time that you'd want them to come.

His most recent goalscoring day came against Hull City, where he found the back of the net twice in a 3-3 draw at the MKM Stadium.

Kieran McKenna was happy to heap praise on the youngster after the game. "He deserves it because he works really hard on his game," said the Northern Irish boss, via TEAMtalk.

"He played two different roles in the game, causing a lot of problems, and he’s frustrated not to have got a third goal tonight. That’s him. He holds himself to high standards and if he keeps doing that he’ll do very well for himself."

Wes Burns went off injured against Coventry City in Ipswich's last match. This could open the door for Hutchinson to start the game which could send Town up to the Premier League, if they get at least a draw from their final day fixture against Huddersfield Town.

Omari Hutchinson loan move makes perfect sense for all parties

As was alluded to earlier, it makes total sense for the 20-year-old to return to Portman Road next season, on a year-long basis, so that he can continue to develop.

He will continue to get plenty of minutes in a league which will provide more of a test for him, Ipswich will benefit from his dynamism, and Chelsea will get an improved player at the end of it.

Town may attempt to try their luck with Hutchinson's parent club because of their financial situation. If they sold the Jamaican, then he would count as pure profit towards their profit and sustainability standings, which can't be in a good way.

Academy products like Trevoh Chalobah, Conor Gallagher, and former Burnley loanee Ian Maatsen are all said to be players that could leave the blue side of London, in an attempt by the club to improve their bottom line. These deals would need to be done by the end of June for them to actually benefit them though.

Manager Mauricio Pochettino has admitted that the future of the current captain, Gallagher, is out of his hands, as per the Evening Standard.

If they play their cards right, Ipswich could end up with Hutchinson on their books permanently, but another temporary stay in East Anglia for the 20-year-old would be of massive benefit to them too.
