Marc Cucurella has done an interview with the Chelsea official website where he praised his new manager Enzo Maresca, who has led the team to third place in the Premier League and top spot in the Conference League as we reach the November international break.

“He’s a top manager. He’s bringing new ideas, every day he tries to teach us and we want to learn. We have a lot of different things to improve, but I think it is part of the project and there is a long way to go.

Despite that praise, the defender was also happy to admit there were still big issues with the team’s game, and insisted that only time and hard work would help them get to the level Maresca desires.

‘”We need to keep focusing on everything. The manager has brought some new ideas for sure but it’s early, we have not been together for a long time, so we need to keep going. Every day is a new opportunity to learn and to help the team.

“It’s a little too soon to have everything perfect, but we have learned some things. We try to improve and we have a top squad with many young players. We are in a good way, we need to keep working hard and to be proud of what we have been doing.”

Cucurella and others set for two weeks away

Sadly Cucurella will be one of many players away during the next fortnight with their national team. His good form for Chelsea at the tail end of last season catapulted him into Spain’s lineup, and after helping them win the Euros he now heads off for Nations League action.

Maresca’s training ground work will have to focus on the many players who are left at Cobham.
