Chelsea sign Australian international full-back Carpenter | OneFootball

Chelsea have completed the signing of Australian international defender Ellie Carpenter on a four-year deal.

WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Blues this morning.

The 25-year-old full-back joins Chelsea from French Arkema Première Ligue club OL Lyonnes where she has spent the last five years. Carpenter has won two UEFA Women’s Champions Leagues, four consecutive league titles and three domestic cups in her time in France. The player has also turned out for Western Sydney Wanderers, Canberra United, Portland Thorns and Melbourne City in her career to date.

On the international stage, Carpenter has collected 89 caps for the Australian national team while she has scored four goals.

After adding Carpenter to the Chelsea squad, head of women’s football, Paul Green said “Ellie is a player who we have tracked for many years. She has a lot of experience for someone of her age and has won numerous titles in her career, including the Champions League.

“She is an athletic full back who loves to get forward. We are excited to see how she continues to develop and what she will add to an already talented squad of players.”

Carpenter arrives at Chelsea as a direct replacement for Ashley Lawrence who left the club yesterday.
