As reported a while back, Chelsea have shown an interest in signing Barcelona attacking midfielder Fermin Lopez in the final days of the summer transfer window.
There were rumours of a €50 million offer being tabled, but so far, there has been no direct contact between the clubs. However, the Blues have held talks with the player’s camp to gauge his interest regarding a possible switch.
Building on that, Mundo Deportivo now reports that Chelsea have given Fermin 48 hours to make a decision about leaving Barcelona to move to London.
The Premier League club’s interest in the La Masia graduate is very firm and goes back some time. But, before making a formal offer, they wish to know if he wants to leave.
As such, Chelsea have set a 48-hour deadline for the Spaniard to decide. If he is truly willing to leave Barcelona, then the Blues will formalise the proposal to the Catalan club.

Fermin is now weighing up his future. The midfielder has always expressed his desire to continue at Barcelona, the club of his life, but recent events may at the very least lead him to reconsider.
The match against Levante this past weekend left the attacking midfielder frustrated: he was not in the starting eleven, and Raphinha played in his position.
Furthermore, in a match that required a comeback, Hansi Flick did not give him a single minute and instead brought on players like Dani Olmo or Gavi before him.
At Chelsea, on the other hand, they are guaranteeing Fermin a leading role. He would arrive at Stamford Bridge to be a key figure in Enzo Maresca’s team, which has already made a major investment this summer.
The reigning Club World Cup and UEFA Conference League champions are waiting for the midfielder’s response. Their commitment is very firm, but the final word rests with Fermin himself.
