The international break is in full swing, and content creators all over are desperately looking for something to write about other than a rather uninspiring round of World Cup Qualifiers and Nations League Playoff games.
It’s no wonder then that the Guardian have resorted to a Premier League team of the season (so far), summing up who the best XI and the best manager have been at this point of the season.
Chelsea would have had a couple of names on the list had this exercise been done in November, but as it is they’re done to one,
It’s a sign of just how good Cole Palmer was in the first half of this season that he still makes the team despite a long barren run:
“Form and fitness have abandoned Chelsea’s talisman in recent weeks, but 14 goals and six assists are still ridiculous for a midfielder in March, even one who hasn’t scored in 10 games,” the Guardian write.
“Palmer made history against Brighton in September as the first Premier League player to score four goals in one half, but the way he has constantly linked play for Chelsea has been almost as impressive. Don’t forget that ball to set up Chelsea’s opener against Newcastle, surely the pass of the season so far. Palmer oozes class.”

Both of those moments feel long, long ago now. But we’ve got great confidence that the Wythenshawe Wizard can come back after this break and find his form again, securing his place in the proper team of the season come May.
Next time he steps onto the pitch for us he should be exceptionally fresh and rested after almost 3 weeks off, and he will have his favoured attacking partner Nicolas Jackson back on the pitch.
