Chelsea now looking at Germany U20 international as new goalkeeper option

Chelsea are seemingly now looking for a new goalkeeper to sign despite it being heavily reported some weeks back that they are happy with Robert Sanchez and Djordje Petrovic.

Well, they clearly are not happy with the options they have, because they are now being heavily linked with new goalkeeper names for this summer.

Sources: Nico Williams to Chelsea still on??

There’s been noise around Filip Jorgensen of Villareal, and there’s also been suggestions now that Chelsea could sell Petrovic this summer, or at the least loan him.

So it looks likely that Chelsea will move a keeper on and replace him with another one, perhaps one who suits Maresca’s style of play much more.

Maresca wants his goalkeeper to be able to comfortably play out from the back and act as an on field player when in possession. It’s pretty clear to me that neither Sanchez or Petrovic are top options in that department right now.

Chelsea now looking at Ramaj

Who, I hear you say?

Well, Diant Ramaj is a 22-year-old goalkeeper who plays for Ajax and is also capped up to U20 level for Germany.

He’s had just 22 appearances at senior level in a top league and once again, he would be a hugely unproven option to come in for Chelsea, just as the majority of their uninspiring and underwhelming recruitment has been.

But according to Gianluca Di Marzio’s staff, as above, Ramaj can leave Ajax in summer. Clubs from Spain are keeping their eyes on him for a loan. Chelsea also informed about conditions of a potential deal while tracking down a list of options.

So he’s another one that Chelsea are tracking as they look through their list of goalkeeper options for this summer.

Is he really going to come in and improve Chelsea in that position right now? I’m not so sure.
