Chelsea have reportedly spoken to the representatives of a manager who has never coached in the top flight before and has only been a manager since 2021.

As you will be well aware of by now, Chelsea and Mauricio Pochettino are having talks this week and they could end up parting ways due to disagreements over power with Pochettino wanting much more of a say with the transfer decisions at the club this summer.

Sources: Managerial merry-go-round that is likely to effect Chelsea this summer!

A lot of things are being said about it right now but nobody seems to be clear exactly what will happen. Maybe Chelsea and Pochettino continue after coming to some sort of agreement about how to move forward. But maybe they decide to go their separate ways and are unable to agree a collaborative approach.

If they do separate, Fabrizio Romano says Chelsea will go for a young manager to replace Pochettino, which leads us into our story here.

Is 38 years old young enough for you Chelsea?

The Guardian are reporting that Chelsea are weighing up whether to sack Mauricio Pochettino and they have spoken to Ipswich manager Kieran McKenna’s representatives.

McKenna has only been a first team manager since 2021 and he has never managed in top flight football before. He’s done an incredible job with Ipswich, taking them into the Premier League this season, but he is vastly inexperienced and would represent a huge risk if Chelsea did decide to hire him.

The report says that Brighton are trying to hire him too but are aware of Chelsea’s interest.

Our view

McKenna is a good up and coming manager, sure. But it would be ridiculous and stupid for Chelsea to take such a huge risk on such an inexperienced manager if they do decide to pull the plug on Pochettino. There will be much backlash if they decide to go down this route.
