Chelsea have completed the signing of Mamadou Sarr from Strasbourg in a deal worth £12 million. The 19-year-old defender has agreed terms on an eight-year contract and becomes eligible for immediate involvement at the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup in the United States.
The move represents the first senior transfer between Chelsea and Strasbourg, both operating under the BlueCo ownership model led by Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital. The agreement was finalised in January with a view to completing the transfer in the summer window.
Sarr featured in 28 matches across all competitions for Strasbourg during the 2024–25 campaign, contributing to their seventh-place finish in Ligue 1 and qualification for the Conference League play-offs.

With Enzo Maresca set to lead his side in the Club World Cup, Sarr is eligible to feature when Chelsea face LAFC on 16 June, followed by fixtures against Flamengo and ES Tunis on 20 and 25 June respectively.
Sarr becomes Chelsea’s fourth signing of the summer. He follows the arrivals of Liam Delap from Ipswich Town for £30 million, Estevao from Palmeiras for £29 million and Dario Essugo from Sporting Lisbon for £18 million.
Chelsea remain active in the market and are currently pursuing Borussia Dortmund winger Jamie Gittens.
