Chelsea and Al-Nassr are “close to agreeing” a deal worth £44 million for Joao Felix in the summer transfer window, according to multiple reports.
The Portuguese attacker only signed a seven-year contract with the Blues last summer, moving from Atletico Madrid for a £42m fixed fee, plus £4.3m in add-ons. Conor Gallagher went in the opposite direction for £36m.
Felix only made three Premier League starts under Enzo Maresca before being sent on loan to AC Milan for the second half of the 2024/25 campaign. He scored just two goals in 15 Serie A appearances before returning to Stamford Bridge.
The 25-year-old has been linked with a return to Benfica, the club where his professional career began. The Eagles had been in talks over a move, but they have seemingly been gazumped by Al-Nassr.
Sky Sports News report that the Saudi Pro League outfit will pay around £44m for Felix, while journalist Ben Jacobs claims the fee will be closer to £48m.
Fabrizio Romano says the deal is considered to be in “the final stages” on both Chelsea and the player’s side. Felix has accepted Al-Nassr’s “proposal” and the two clubs are “finalising terms”.
The deal will see Chelsea make a small profit on the £42m transfer fee they spent on Felix, assuming the add-ons were not met. They also received a £5m loan fee from Milan in February.
Al-Nassr are pushing the boat out to win the Saudi Pro League for the first time since 2019. They have already extended the contract of Felix’s compatriot, Cristiano Ronaldo, while former Benfica and Sporting CP boss Jorge Jesus has been appointed as their new head coach.
