Chelsea’s approach for Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall could scupper Brighton’s bid to sign the Leicester midfielder.

Brighton have agreed a deal to sign Dewsbury-Hall after having a player-plus-cash proposal accepted by the Foxes, who need to sell before the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability (PSR) deadline on June 30.

The Seagulls struck an agreement that would see them exchange midfielder Jakub Moder alongside a fee of around £25m for Dewsbury-Hall, who was one of the stars of the Championship campaign as Leicester won the second tier title and promotion last season.

Moder and Dewsbury-Hall have already had medicals scheduled, according to Fabrizio Romano, though late interest from Chelsea could scupper the deal.

The West Londoners have approached Leicester to discuss the conditions of a deal, with Enzo Maresca – who guided Leicester to promotion last season before taking charge at Chelsea this summer – keen to reunite with the 25-year-old.

Dewsbury-Hall scored 12 goals and provided 14 assists in the Championship last season and is open to a new challenge as he looks to break into the England set-up. The opportunity of playing European football at Chelsea will appeal, leaving Brighton’s bid in danger of collapsing.

Chelsea are also advancing in talks to sell Omari Hutchinson to Ipswich Town for a fee in the region of £20m, after a successful loan spell for the midfielder at Portman Road last season.
