Chelsea announce pre-season friendly against Gotham FC | OneFootball

Chelsea have announced the news that they will face American National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) club Gotham FC in a pre-season friendly.

The Blues confirmed news of their trip Stateside via a post on their official club website this afternoon.

It has been revealed that Chelsea will face Gotham FC on Monday 19 August 2024 (kick-off 7pm ET) at Red Bull Arena in Harrison, New Jersey. The game will be one of the first for Chelsea’s new head coach who will arrive at the club over the summer.

The fixture will see the Barclays Women’s Super League champions come up against the club that are currently ranked in seventh position in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL). Gotham FC were previously the NWSL Championship winners in 2023, The Goths having defeated OL Reign 2-1 in the final.

There are a couple of familiar faces in the Gotham FC squad. Veteran goalkeeper Ann-Katrin Berger recently joined the American club from Chelsea after enjoying more than five successful years in South West London while defender Crystal Dunn spent a little over a year with The Blues between 2017 and 2018.

Tickets for Chelsea’s pre-season friendly fixture against Gotham FC are set to go on-sale on at 12pm ET on Thursday 23 May 2024. Chelsea Women season ticket holders and official supporters club members will be contacted direct about buying tickets.
