Chelsea have reached a full agreement with Spanish international Marc Cucurella over a new long-term contract, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.
Cucurella enjoyed an outstanding 2024/25 campaign, making 54 official appearances and contributing seven goals and three assists from left-back.
He helped the Blues secure the Conference League and Club World Cup titles as well as a return to Champions League football.
Cucurella’s rise to prominence over the last 12 months has been nothing short of remarkable for a player that once found himself on the periphery and was close to being loaned out at a point.
Known for his professionalism and work ethic, he has become a respected leader within the dressing room, maintaining high standards day in and day out which contributes to a winning culture Chelsea are keen to nurture.
Chelsea’s decision to offer him a new deal quells any talks of a move away from West London for Cucurella, whose current deal is due to expire in 2028.
The 27-year-old had been recently linked with a move to Saudi Pro League giants Al-Nassr.
Given the intense workload he had to bear last season, Chelsea have already brought in Jorrel Hato to provide cover for Cucurella as they look to compete on all fronts next season.
Enzo Maresca’s men have won 16 of their last 18 matches across all competitions dating back to April 20 and will head into the 2025-26 campaign in high spirits.
Chelsea will get their league journey underway with a clash against Crystal Palace on Sunday before a short trip to the London Stadium five days later to face off against West Ham United.
