Chelsea have reached an agreement with Borussia Dortmund to sign Jamie Gittens.
The English winger will join the Blues on a seven-year deal, and Standard Sport understands the fee to be £55million including add-ons.
Gittens and Chelsea reached an agreement on personal terms — including the length of his contact — weeks ago, but the two clubs have been locked in talks over a transfer fee for some time.
Multiple rounds of talks took place, including in the last week in person in the United States, where both clubs are competing in the Club World Cup.
On Saturday, an agreement was made that will see the highly-rated 20-year-old make the move to Stamford Bridge. Earlier this month, Dortmund had turned down a £42m bid for Gittens from Chelsea.
Last week, Dortmund’s German Bundesliga rivals Bayern Munich explored a deal for Gittens, but no formal offer was made and Chelsea remained in pole position to win the race to sign Gittens throughout.
Gittens spent time in Chelsea’s academy as a youngster but spent the bulk of his youth career with Reading. He scored eight goals in the Bundesliga for Dortmund this season, as well as four in the Champions League.
An agreement to sign Gittens follows Chelsea’s decision not to fulfil their obligation to buy Jadon Sancho at the end of his year-long loan spell. That decision saw them pay Manchester United a £5m penalty fee.
