Former Celtic defender Charlie Mulgrew has revealed that he walked in on a surreal scene after a famous win against Barcelona. Neil Lennon’s side overcame the European Giants in a memorable evening under the lights at Paradise.

Speaking to Undr the Cosh podcast, Mulgrew revealed that he walked into the Barca changing room to be greeted with the sight of the Spanish side embroiled in a fight.

Mulgrew had agreed to swap shirts with Andres Iniesta, the Match winner in the 2010 World Cup Final, and knocked on the door to the visitor’s dressing room only to see Messi & Co fighting with each other.

As a team that had been so used to success, the Barca players likely were struggling to comprehend how they had failed to break down Celtic when they so often put their opponents to the sword. It was probably testament to the way that Lenny set the team up that Barca were so frustrated but the possession was around 27% and not 11% – as has been claimed.

Celtic won the game thanks to goals from Victor Wanyama and Tony Watt, which put Lennon’s side on the brink of a famous win before Messi pulled one back. Celtic defended admirably with Fraser Forster pulling off a number of big saves.
