West Ham manager Graham Potter is actively seeking to strengthen his midfield options following the departure of Edson Álvarez to Fenerbahçe. The London club has now shifted its focus to finalizing a deal for AS Monaco’s Soungoutou Magassa.

According to reports from The Guardian, the Hammers have submitted an initial bid for the 21-year-old French-Malian midfielder in an effort to secure his services promptly. Monaco has shown willingness to part with the player and has already responded with a counteroffer.

West Ham's pursuit of Magassa aligns with manager Graham Potter’s strategy to acquire a deep-lying midfielder capable of dictating play and controlling the tempo. The club is prepared to offer the player a contract extending until the summer of 2031.

The 21-year-old, who is currently under contract with AS Monaco until June 2029, holds an estimated market value of €12 million according to Transfermarkt. During the 2024/25 season, the Stains-born midfielder made 31 appearances across all competitions, contributing one goal and one assist.
