Celtic have reportedly had their opening bid rejected for Anderlecht’s Nilson Angulo. The 21-year-old featured for Ecuador in their 0-0 draw with Brazil but it is being reported that Celtic have made a bid for the player.
Journalist César Luis Merlo writing for StudioFútbol, claims that Celtic are one of several teams interested in the player but that Brendan Rodgers’ side were first to make a bid. The report states that Celtic are expected to return with an improved bid.
The report continues that the Belgian side saw the bid as being below their value for the winger. Angulo has 3 goals and 3 assists in 64 appearances for Anderlecht, which is hardly eye catching form. However, it may be that the Celtic scouting team see a promising winger there that can develop at the club inline with the transfer model.
The Scottish Champions are reportedly close to adding Welsh striker Callum Osmond to their ranks with the 19-year-old having completed a medical. The starlet is seen as a striking option with first team potential but may not be the only striker signed this summer.
Celtic have already announced the re-signing of Kieran Tierney from Arsenal. The 28-year-old was announced after he signed a contract that will take him until at least the summer of 2030. The club are also expected to sign Ross Doohan from Aberdeen, who will replace Scott Bain as the club’s third goalkeeper behind Vil Sinisalo and No.1 Kasper Schmeichel.
