Celtic face Young Boys of Berne in the next UEFa Champions League match at Celtic Park. The Scottish Champions were held to a 0-0 draw in Zagreb last night but go into the next game knowing that their opponents only have pride to play for.
Celtic go into Matchday Seven of the UEFA Champions League knowing that a win will secure passage to the knockout phases. However, after Young Boys fell to a 5-1 hammering at the hands of Stuttgart, the Swiss side know they cannot progress.
Young Boys’ defeat takes them to an unwanted run of seven consecutive UCL defeats, something that Celtic will wish to add to when the teams meet in January. Celtic will be eager to get the job done before the trip to Villa Park to face Aston Villa in the final game of the new-look group format.
Brendan and his team will not dwell too long on the Swiss side’s form but it will ease the anxiety of the supporters somewhat knowing that their opponents on the next occasion have little to play for.
