If a recent report from the Daily Record is believed to be true, Celtic have not given up on Lennon Miller and are constantly monitoring the Motherwell sensation ahead of a potential summer transfer. But they are not alone in the hunt as an array of top European outfits are keeping close eyes on the 18-year-old midfield prospect.

The Steelmen rejected multiple bids from Union St-Gilloise and Udinese during the winter window. German side Eintracht Frankfurt are also in the mix and the Hoops, therefore, won’t have a free run for the teenager upon the conclusion of the 2024-25 campaign. With his contract at Fir Park set to expire at the end of next season, the Lanarkshire side would entertain offers this summer to maximize the profit for the homegrown prodigy.

Miller joined his boyhood club at the age of seven. There he made significant strides through the youth ranks and eventually broke into the senior side in August 2022, six days after his 16th birthday. However, the Motherwell midfielder had a breakthrough 2023-24 season with 32 first-team appearances. The first-team minutes helped him develop his game as he has already featured 30 times this term, with 4 goals and 6 assists in all competitions.

Why Celtic Must Snap Him Up In The Summer

The Scotland youth international has exhibited his flexibility by slotting in across midfield. He also captained the Well for a couple of months before sustaining an injury earlier this year. New boss Michael Wimmer even deployed him as a centre-forward in their 2-1 win on the road against Rangers. While the youngster looks more comfortable as a deep-lying playmaker, in a box-to-box role or even as the ‘number 10’, his physicality as well as the technical traits could be utilized to mould him into a manager’s player.

Celtic have ample options in the middle of the park but have no one to challenge and cover skipper Callum McGregor. The Scotsman is irreplaceable at the base, whereas Paulo Bernardo and Luke McCowan are there to compete with Arne Engels and Reo Hatate for the ‘number 8′ spots. Brendan Rodgers could reap the benefits of Miller’s versatility, but the Motherwell prized asset would cost them more than £3.25m – a fee the Bhoys paid for David Turnbull in 2020.

Despite more than 100 outings donning the Celtic colours, Turnbull never established himself as a regular starter. Millar might not earn an immediate starting status at Parkhead, but his prowess and potential should see him reach new heights under Rodgers’ tutelage.
