There can be simply no excuses for another below par display against a team of moderate ability who have shown more hunger than this talented Celtic side in both matches played so far in 2025.

It’s a dead-rubber as we’re Champions but it still matters – it’s a massive match for Celtic

This lunchtime sees Celtic  take on theRangers at Ibrox in the last Glasgow Derby of the season, and it’s a game the players should be going all out to win despite it being labelled as something of a ‘dead-rubber’. Technically it is but this is Glasgow and everything matters when Celtic play any version of ‘Rangers’, old or new.

Yes the league title is secured, Celtic are the Champions and we may well be thinking ahead to Hampden and the Scottish cup final in three weeks time. But today that doesn’t matter. It doesn’t mean we can afford to take this game lightly, and we should be fully focused on winning the battle, putting them in their box for the summer and watching 2000 Celtic supporters celebrating another Beautiful Sunday.  Nothing less should come into the players’ thinking.

Unthinkable to be outfought again by this bang average Ibrox outfit

The Celtic players are playing for their own pride and for the supporters too who have watched those turgid performances in the last two derby outings. Today is the perfect stage to show to the world that we are more than worthy Champions.

theRangers despite failing to win at home in three months will be well up for it make no mistake about that. They always raise their game against the Champions and today will be no different, hopefully our players also rise to the occasion and make amends for their previous failings in the last two fixtures between the sides.

Reputations are on the line today

The Celtic players owe it to the manager, themselves and more importantly the supporters. There are simply no excuses for failing yet again today. Losing three matches in a row to that lot is unthinkable. Reputations are on the line today. We are easily the better team, it’s time to show it over at their place and then we can have a party on this Beautiful Sunday.
