Celtic are looking to sign Sevilla striker Kelechi Iheanacho before the summer transfer window deadline in Scotland tonight, according to the Scottish Sun.
Celtic have let Adam Idah leave Parkhead to join Swansea City for £6 million, and manager Brendan Rodgers now wants to reunite with Iheanacho.
The 28-year-old Nigerian international played under the Hoops boss at Leicester City, and a move could be on the cards tonight.
Sevilla are open to letting the former Manchester City man leave, and the opportunity to move to Celtic and play European football could appeal to him.
He made 196 Premier League appearances during the eight seasons he spent in the English top-flight, weighing in with 42 goals and 27 assists.
Iheanacho had his best season under the Celtic manager in 2020-21 when he notched 19 goals and seven assists in 39 appearances.
The Bhoys looked to sign Chelsea forward David Datro Fofana in their search for a replacement for Idah, but the Ivorian is set to join Charlton on loan instead.
They are now considering a move for the Sevilla striker and will have to get a deal done before 11pm tonight.
Celtic need plenty of quality firepower if they are to impress in the Europa League and maintain their domestic dominance.
Iheanacho brings much-needed experience to the table as far as European football is concerned, and he could prove to be a decent addition to their attack.
Celtic are yet to make a deadline day signing, leaving the fans disappointed, but a deal for the Nigerian could be struck in the coming hours.
The Hoops had been hoping to secure two strikers and two wingers today, but it is unknown if any would arrive despite the links to Iheanacho.
They came close to agreeing a deal for Anderlecht striker Kasper Dolberg, but Ajax appear to have pipped them to his services.
